Thank you for your recent contribution to our Kindergarten classroom. We used the money to purchase activities that will build literacy skills. Kindergarten students can easily manipulate the activities and the activities can be used for different learning levels and styles. The materials are bright, colorful, and fun for the students to use. Quite often they don’t even know they are working! First off, I have to tell you that when I checked the mail on my lunch hour today, I started crying. It has been such a trying time since September. I was laid off and then it took me five weeks to find a job. When I finally got settled into that job I broke my ankle. It took me almost three weeks to feel good enough to go back to work but only part-time per my doctor so I found another job closer for part-time work but less money. I can't work full time because of the swelling, therapy and doctor visits.

When the money came in the mail I knew I did not have to borrow money from my family for this particular doctor's visit. They don't have a lot either and I feel bad having to borrow from them. I feel terrible not being able to provide for myself and my kids. This is such a great program and it really made me feel better about myself and I hope to one day be able to help out people.

I greatly appreciate the money and will again apply as I am still struggling to pay the bills until I can get back to full time. Thanks again so much!

On 12/29/07 you sent a check to me. The money went to pay overdue bills. Mainly electric, gas and telephone. I used the left over money for groceries and much needed household supplies. I can't thank you enough for what you did for me in sending that check. It really came just in the nick of time. I was sitting in my apartment thinking I was going to have to break my lease and further ruin my credit and I was crying. I received your check in the mail that day as well as a phone call from my new employer telling me they wanted to hire me.

I prayed and thanked God for His timing and mercy. I have been so busy with my boys and I am working on getting my degree now. I am enrolled in a Psychology degree and am working part-time for some wonderful people. We still struggle with money and keeping up but you helped launch me into feeling like I can make this work.

I recently applied and received funding for the grant I applied for. I want to say thank you for helping me pay my mortgage and avoid foreclosure on my home. With the help of the grant money I was able to pay an additional month of my mortgage, taking it out of foreclosure. Yes, I am currently still behind, but not to the point of foreclosure.

I would like to say thank you for helping my family out with the grant. I was very surprised to receive the check in the mail. I would like you to know that with the money I was able to pay my last months bills and my rent for 2 months and also buy my 2 sons bunk beds as they were well needed. My oldest has been in my old twin bed that was bought when I was 16, and my younger son was sleeping on a used mattress that sat on a piece of plywood with no box spring. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

All of this gives me a bit of relief due to the fact that I am unemployed and have 3 small children 10-6 and 20 months. I am also a single mom. Since I was laid off I have been very depressed and very stressed as I have no one to ask for help. I have been on my own since I was 16 years old and recently divorced. I know that people like you make my feel there is hope for struggling single mothers and people do care and love others. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I would like you to know how I was very much touched in my heart when I found out I was selected to receive grant funding from the Grant Resource Center. When I began to read the letter I broke down in tears of joy and happiness. I paid the rent, I paid P.G.&E. and paid for my child's school uniform. I really didn't believe that applying for a grant for help would be so quick and easy! I applied for a grant the first part of january for help with our medical bills and received a grant check from your foundation on the 26th of January.

My husband was extremely shocked when we received the check in the mail this past weekend. He never thought it was possible and he really thought I was wasting my time and/or grasping at the idea. I will admit, I thought the idea was somewhat impossible for us, but your foundation made us believe that miracles do happen for people like us. These are truly great kids who's dad is on death row. It's very sad that the children of inmates, are more often than not, left with the many hardships that go along with circumstances they have no control over.

I loved all of the resources found at the Grant Resource Center website. I was able to find lots of tips on submitting grants, such as the do's/don'ts of how to write one. There were lots of different types of grants to choose from ... though overwhelming at first a little time and effort can narrow down the choices. All of the customer service reps were very helpful ... both online & over the phone.

I have not gotten a grant yet, mainly because I am still preparing my submission(s). I am confident with the information received from the Grant Resource website that I will be approved for a Grant. The program itself is great, there so many tools & resources of information. I would recommend giving it a try -- it is really worth it if applying for a grant seems to scary doing it alone. I used to be scared & didn't have a clue on how, where, & when to submit a grant. But, now with my new knowledge I know my new small home business become even more successful after the remodeling will be done.

It is both exciting and humbling to be the recipient of this grant. Due to an unexpected complication from a routine surgery I became disabled enough not to be able to return to work as a long term care nurse. Even with insurance the medical bills quickly added up. I had enough sick leave for 6 months but am now looking at the end of it. I applied for disability through my insurance but it is a long process. Having used up savings to pay the medical bills the next few months looked bleak. Especially since house insurance and taxes are soon due.

This grant will be put towards the house insurance and taxes that would have been paid from savings had I not used that all for medical bills. A “Thank You” seems very inadequate. I do appreciate the kindness.
